Ozgur Tuncer, a concert pianist and associate professor, has earned great respect and admiration among artists and musicians, including myself, with his dedicated work in the area of classical music. The high musical and technical level that he achieved in the works that I listened to, especially by Chopin and Rachmaninoff, is evidence of his success. In addition to his success as a concert performer, Mr. Tuncer continues to make a lasting impression on his students here at the conservatory.

Ozgur Tuncer, capturing the mystical nature of Ulvi Cemal Erkin’s piano concerto, used his soft touch to bring his own original romantic expression to this piece.

In his recital, Ozgur Tuncer played the Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody No.6 with great dynamism, and he performed the fast octaves towards the end of the piece very successfully. As for Scriabin’s Etude No.4, Tuncer very beautifully captured the essence of Scriabin’s tone with his skilled use of the pedals.

I have always had great respect for the artistic stance of musician and academician Ozgur Tuncer, whose successful performance of Chopin’s Nocturne No. 20 at Akbank Art was fantastic. Also, he played Chopin’s Piano Sonata No.2 like an emotion-filled story. His technique was flawless. His consistent standing ovations are evidence that Tuncer is one of today’s leading performers.

It was wonderful to feel the charm of the old master pianists when listening to many of the pieces at Ozgur Tuncer’s recital. His constant artistic progress as a pianist is evident every time I listen to him perform.

When I listened to his recital, of all the composers whose works he performed, I was most impressed by his interpretation of Chopin. Be it the touch he used in Chopin or the musicality, all is evidence that he is an outstanding Chopin performer.
